you drop a large 12 inch bent end pry bar in the leg - with the bent end facing out and twist it the centering bottom piece will pop off the bottom -- some times the gasket is a thing to remove

I went to a small swap over the weekend and saw these frame/oil tank covers(bling item on my list). I have the part number, thanks to panz as mentioned in a thread abut this. Anyone know which one would have been on a '68? Notice two of them don't have a full diameter hole fr pogo. I looked at all 5 and none had a number.

Number two from the left is for 78 - 79.

I have been looking for it a while. I have a 1978 FLH 75th anniversary model. I don't know the message system in this forrum. If you want to sell it please make a contact as a message.

Thank you.

Torben

I didn't score, sorry 78 FLH. I kept my money in my pocket because I don't know (yet) what to look for without the part number on it. That's why I'm asking. I'm willing to bet I missed out. Next month is another swap close to that area,,, ya never know.

There are two numbers in the 1978 HD assesory brochure. 62490-71 fits 65-75 buddy Seat and 62490-78 fits 76-80 comfortflex Seat with the seat post and sissor arrangement.

Default 68 flh.......👍

Man that is a sweet scoot! Diggin' the paint.....😎

Ride her! Are you doing a concourse resto? Or just tryin' to be period correct?

My '79 FLH 1200 King of the Highway.

This winter going to reinstall all the trim & badging that who ever painted her left off....

Electra Glide script for front fenders, King of the Highway badges on saddlebags.

Found the NOS blue-dot visors for turn indicators & headlight.

Then have a Dyno tune scheduled before spring....✌

Bike was originally tan & brown. Still have the original brown Comfort Flex seat with backrest. Mod done in 2002, S&S Super Stock heads, Super E carb, +0.020\" forged slugs, Jim's Powerglide Tappets, and true duals...

Awesome '68 classof96

wow all the beautiful bikes are coming out on this thread. I can only dream.

rocker_man, what muffs are those?

Archetect - Does John Bordas have OEM parts for the speedo? My trip counter is stuck at 777 (how lucky) and my speedo is missing the shaft and ****. BTW the 68-70 had only the logo and my 71 only had the name.

Great info.

Great info.
I was also missing the trip ****, he provided. When he did the speedo for my '46, he provided a lot of the missing parts like the needle etc. He also rebuilt my cable for the Flathead. I would expect him to have whatever is needed to make your unit 100%.
