Default 78 FlH Lifter Advice

I'm going to be helping a friend of mine work on his 78 80" FLH that he said has some lifter noise. If the lifters need to be replaced what lifters would you recomend installing. I believe that the motor is fairly stock, although I know the top end has been pulled once or twice. Not sure if the lifters are orig because my friend was not the original owner (he's owned the bike since around 1990). Any advice?

Thanks

First thing, see if they are solids. If so adjust them.

stock lifters can be tightened up a bit - with a long screwdriver at the base of each pushrod tube will help you id what one is the issue - then turn it down 1/2 turn more 3 nut flats - and fire it back up drive it 20 minuets and see

Got Jim's big-axle hydraulics in mine. The top end is silent.
