while bike is running use a volt meter across the batt you sould get about 13.5 v

 

I also had an issue with the relay sticking closed. Spinning my starter while i was riding. Didn't hear cuz my bike is a little loud. I believe a weak spring inside the relay would allow it to close due to motor vibration or just bouncing down the road. During my troubleshooting of this issue i found the problem when the starter would engage just from putting it in gear.
