Yeah, I was a fan of the Black Pearl when I bought it, but I definitely like the flat better. I wish I had one of the H-D tank decals, I would have pulled my stock tank badge off.

I'll probably keep it this way for a while, then whenever I actually have time to pull all the tins off, I'll be painting with the water droplet effect, but that will be a PERMANENT change, so I'm in no rush, since this is my first paint job on anything.

Thanks, I'm still kinda surprised at myself for doing it in the first place. Of course I spent two good riding days painting it, and now it's 27 degrees out.

The taping wasn't that bad, just used 1" tape for the tight spots. Most of the edges where gaskets are made it easy to get a tight line.

Looks good man. All about doing it yourself. Used bed liner paint on my Sportster And, like you, painted the stock AC and horn cover on my Dyna satin black before I swapped out ACs.

Wow that must have been alot of work taping off. Your job came out great.
I started touching up my engine with paint brush using the VHT flat black heat paint, but today when I look at it I think its too flat but as I've heard black on the engine should grey up some so I think I'll be ok, I may just sand the edges of the fins back to silver.
