Considering whether or not to use an engine treatment or other fuel additives? Gas stabilizers are recommended for long term storage as gas degrades over time. However, modern oils already contain additives and members seem to have split opinions.

If this were true after a couple of thousand start ups for sure all the motors would be toasted. The noise you hear is the clearances without the flow of oil pressure until the oil completes its cycle in the engine and fills the clearances (HD is on the wider side of close tolerances). As long as you dont load the motor before it has the proper warm up time, it will be fine.
+1 on that !

I throw in some Stabil each winter, and then in the spring run a can of Sea Foam through. Never had a problem. I've been doing this for years, and at least 250-300K miles on motorcycles. Never miss a beat! Wally world for both.

Good oil already has additives. Be careful with the snake oil.

I've never heard of it. I put a lucas motorcycle oil stabilizer in this last oil change but haven't noticed a difference in the way it runs.

Default Dragging bestline topic back up...

I see the stated info below and ive seen some testing done by amateurs clearly showing bestline has positive effects on metal surfaces in general.

What I want to know is, how many folks have used the product religiously for years? It's been around for better than a decade now right?

I see there are some out there who claim that the chlorinated paraffins in bestline can and will cause premature breakdown of engine oil, cause corrosion particularly to copper parts in an engine but also iron and aluminum over time after the acid neutralizers in the bestline wear out (are consumed)...

I've used the product now in a car engine, transmission, and fuel system (bestline makes multiple flavors of additives).... I like the change it made in my vehicle, but question if anyone out here has run these products long term and seen any of the supposed negative side effects as a result?

Corrosion? Hardening and embrittlement of plastics? Premature bearing failures? Anything like that?

I seriously doubt if their scientific research, or their product, is any better than Mobil 1 Synthetic.
M1 has been doing it a long, long time.
Florida 1 time posters are not very convincing, either...

....so your base stock is a Group III, a highly refined petroleum, that because of a lame court case you can call it synthetic. I am reading this correctly?
