Default Wheel Spacing Advice/Help FXDX

Hey guys,

So I started a build end of this summer. I bought a 99 FXDX on the internet. Long story short the forks weren't the stock forks. They were not as long and didn't have the pre load adjustments on them. So I found a guy who had 02 FXDX forks. My issue is now the wheel spacing. Is it possible to get this spaced out right? Rotor is practically against the leg. I know they switched to the sealed style bearings in like 2000 or something. My buddy gave me a wheel from an 06 sporty, which to my knowledge will fit with the stock spacers he had, but I already had the original one powder coated black...

Might be a dumb questions but this is my first build. Rip me if you must.

OP,

With all due respect - simplify your **** down and explain succinctly what it is you're trying to do

Now we're getting somewhere

What are your concerns

The axles match

Are you wanting to move the wheel to one side or the other

How much clearance between the rotor and fork (enough for the caliper - if not.., by how much not = mm..., inches.., feet.., or miles?)

The right side rotor is mm away from touching the leg.

So the wheel seems to need to move to the left side. But that is with no spacers on the left side, just the hat washer that pushes into the bearings

I've never done more with spacing then buying stock spacers and following a diagram.

A few questions

How much to the left - does the wheel need to move - to fit the caliper

Is there physically enough room on the left side - to move the wheel over..., and still have room for a spacer

A pic if possible would be helpful..., but not necessary

You are likely 2 problems..

1. You need to make a custom/semi custom spacer.

2. Your current 99 caliper won't fit the FXDX lowers..

The easiest way resolve this is to find a caliper adapters or go to later calipers. Anyway you'll need to mount the wheel centered and figure out how you mount the calipers and measure for spacers. It's real nice if you have access to a lathe. If not, there are spacers in the Drag catalog.

I have a set of OEM FXDX calipers and front brake lines off a 2000... PM if interested...

These guys:

In fact, I have the front and rear wheels shown in this picture as well, with very serviceable tires, rotors, and rear pulley... Again, as seen in the picture.

Haha! I was wondering whether anyone would blast me for that! When I first picked up the bike, it was missing the pinch bolt. That was a quick fix from the "Hell Box" in my garage! Now it looks like this:
