Default Mysterious Retaining Clip

I was working on some cleaning of the front end down by the oil cooler and adjusting the clutch cable bracket (unsure of correct terminology for that cable bracket but open to learning if you can school me) and I knocked the oil cooler plastic shroud/guard off and this retaining pin fell out:

I couldn’t figure out where it is supposed to go. Does anyone know where it goes? Maybe it was kicked up off the road but I figured it would be good to know what’s up on that thing.

When I was at the dealership for something else I asked them and they said they didn’t know.

Thanks for any help.

It's from a grenade, well probably not. Looks like might be to a castle nut.

Doesn't look like it's from the oil cooler...

Calculated Guess: Check the Clevis Pin in the Rear Master Cylinder. It's in the back.

If it's not... sorry

Looks like the clevis pin on the rear master is secured by a cotter pin, according to the 2014 parts manual. Maybe, it is just something your front tire kicked up one day.
