The quiet baffle for the Vance & Hines Pro Pipe HS (2 into 1) is no longer available. I currently have almost no baffling on this pipe. Would like to quiet it down and a bit more back pressure couldn't hurt.
Since the part is no longer available (part 21299), any suggestions on how to quiet it down without adversely affecting performance?
I would prefer a bolt in option without fabrication as I don't weld. Any suggestions on a "universal" baffle if such a thing truly exists? Otherwise - anyone have one they don't need?
Sounds like the packing has settled out, pull the baffle and rewrap it with stainless steel wool, if Vance and Hines doesn't sell the repack kit, Yoshimura does for their muffler cans (yeah, I know, for Jap bikes).
There are two pieces to the muffler - the body - which does have its mesh screen and fiberglass intact, ie there is baffling - just not a baffle. The other piece is the tail piece that holds an optional competition or quiet baffle. There is only a short 2 3/8 ID pipe segment where the quiet baffle would go.
So if I can find a substitute baffle that has an OD of 2 3/8 to fit that ID - I'd be in business.
The muffler is otherwise pretty much a "glasspack" straight through with no restriction. It does have a very slight angled inlet which I suspect is designed to create some back pressure but it's extremely unrestricted by my standards and is extremely loud.

this is not the baffle that i am familiar with, mine is the generation before yours. all that i could suggest would be to remove the core and replace it with one with a smaller inner diameter and more packing. maybe restrict the outlet diameter too, but all that would require some tools and fab skills.
sorry i cant be more helpful than that, i was hoping that you had the older baffle like mine that i know a BUNCH of tricks for.

No worries. I think it's part of the planned obsolence strategy for V&H. Their part 21858 looks like it would be perfect but they intentionally don't put any usable specs. I suspect I could make it work but without seeing it in person I don't need the hassle. Anyone have part 21858 handy? How far across is the widest part of the baffle (base)? How wide is the widest part of the outlet piple (outer diameter). If it was 4 inches and 2 3/8 I'd be in "hog" heaven.
