Cool Harley's Wide Tire Kit

I'm looking to add the Harley's Wide Tire Kit on my 2006 SuperGlide. I'm looking to purchase the kit for the bike for Christmas. I want to know how it looks if I can get pics of Dyna's with their wide tire kit. And for people who does has it do you like it. Is their much of a difference in the wide tire kit vs stock?

Well, I can tell you first hand that the kit is not needed. I put the wide tire on without any problems. Just need to clean up the wiring under the fender and your good to go. And you will have to find an indy shop to mount the tire for you, as Harley won't do it without the kit for liability reasons. Picture of the tire is in my sig. picture. And it handles MUCH better. Huge improvement in my opinion. Grips very, very well.

I agree with what "AdrianVall" wrote above, I also didn't use the kit and dressed the wiring = no problem, but after an accident my original straps were damaged so I replaced them with the ones from the kit.

Here's some photos and info on the Screamin Eagle 180 kit, tends to look bigger with a chopped fender.

43197-04A Dunlop Screamin' Eagle GT502 180/60B17 Blackwall Tire 17" Rear $172.66
40502-06 Dunlop Tubes 17" Inner Tube 160/70-180/60-17 Center Metal Valve $20.24

43101-06 Dunlop Rim Strips Fits 17-inch Center Valve rims $3.48
59514-06 Rear Fender Inner side plate replacement bracket 2ea $9.87ea
4592 Screw 2ea $3.18ea
10065 cable strap 2ea $0.45ea

Like others here said don't buy the kit all you need is the brackets from the kit which you can buy seperate. That way you can run any tire you want. Cost was about $20. WS6 has some good pics, easy job.

If you have the quick detach hardware then you already have the brackets you need.

I took my wheel off and a HD Dealer installed with no problem...don't think many will refuse to do it.

We really should have told him that it's never been done before and to NOT use the SEARCH finction!

Don't look now, but someone stole the numbers right off of your license plate! LOL!

BTW: Are those touring air shocks I see on your bike? How do you like them?

Nope! Nobody stole the numbers off my plate, I ordered a personalized plate with no numbers or letters . The shocks are 12" Low Profile Touring air shocks, and I'm pretty happy with the smoother ride .

Another vote for not needing the kit, especially if you have the detachable sideplate kit installed. There have been tons of posts and opinions on this subject in the past and I was satisfied that I would not need the kit and it has been proven to be the case. All you need to do is be sure that your wiring inside the fender is secured and will not contact the tire - that is all the kit is meant to do. Some dealers may not refuse to install the tire only but mine did. I found an indy shop that ordered the tire for me at a good price and installed it. He had never done it before and wasn't sure it would fit. But he thought it fit very well and seemed to be impressed by it. He now has all my business from now on as my warranty expires next month.

I am also impressed with the look and the ride of the tire. Not only is it wider but the tread is much more aggressive looking. Bike rides good and corners well. The only knock on this tire, that I have seen, is that it may not last as long as others, including the stock tires, but it remains to be seen by me as I only have a thousand miles or so on it.

I have a pretty good before and after side by side pic in my gallery of the stock 160 vs. the SE 180 tire. Check it out.
