Default Brand new Harley break in

I just purchased a brand new Harley Street Bob. And I have a few questions about changing the oil and other fluids. I know some people recommend changing the engine oil at first 100 miles 500 miles then 1000 miles but what about transmission and primary fluids?

Go back to the dealership and buy a service manual it will answer all of these questions and more

I bought a new CVO Breakout recently and I suppose it depends on how 'anally retentive' you are about the 100 and 500 mile oil changes? On the Breakout it wasn't until I got to the 500 mile mark that you get to open her up anyway. I never even considered any changes before the first service as I was too busy riding and enjoying it! I suggest you do the same. On another note and slightly off topic a comment from an acquaintance of mine who had a Breakout who has subsequently moved on to a Bagger did make me chuckle...."I adored my breakout but she was a **** pig to ride!" Know what? He was right, especially on twisty back street country roads, it is taking me somewhat longer than expected to get to grips with this behemoth, but I will conquer it!

I'm more over the top when it comes to the first few miles on a new bike. MotoTune RPM break in drills then change all 3 fluids at 20 miles, then frequent complete fluid changes during the first 1k. After 1k I'll extend the intervals out, I fully agree on the service manual. Money well spent...

Me, I follow the owners manual unless I dont make the miles when the bike is stored for the winter. Then I change it before storage. I change the engine oil after storage.

There is no vehicle in the world that I'd change the fluids in 3 times in the first 1k miles. If you told me I had to do that, I'd buy a different vehicle.
