When do you change exhaust?
Has anyone changed out their exhaust prior to taking delivery? If not, when do you typically change it out? Do you run any risks breaking in a bike using a non stock exhaust?
I purchased my FXDLS new in late November and it's been in storage at the dealership ever since. It's given me time to begin my modification / upgrade list and exhaust / tuner are top of my list. I hate the look of the stock exhaust and I'm considering changing out the exhaust before I pick it up in spring, but I'm not sure if it would pose any issues on break in.
Thanks

Well you won't "break" it by changing your exhaust. If you do a 2-1 you'll definitely want to tune it. I bought the slip ons for my street Bob a few days before I bought the bike. My lrs, I had to wait until they figured out if the 17 were different from the 16....yea I know...
id suggest the fatcat if you're looking for a good 2-1 exhaust and want an increase in power. Also a good idea to get power vision from fuel moto and they'll send you a tune specific for your mods.

I did while breaking in mine..And did it at the local dealer with exhaust bouth from them, so thye told me that it would hurt the unit...so far, I haven’ t feel problems with the performance...jope nothing happen in the future! If they did it under the warranty period..they should kno nothing bad could happen

I liked the sound and looks well enough. The quality was great also. But I had some fit issues on my LRS. With the TBR pipe, I had to adjust my brake pedal down to avoid contacting the rear head pipe. This made for an awkward/uncomfortable brake application.
I’m doing a bunch of work over the winter, and with all the mods I decided to upgrade the pipe to match.
Plus the power made with the new HPi pipe is nothing to sneeze at:

In all honesty the bike will be fine after ditching the stock exhaust. Like others have said, make sure you get a tuner of some sort and check with the dealership to see if it will void your warranty. If you’re good to go, do a TON of research on pipes. There a lot of them out there that are just noise makers and piles of junk. Base your decision on actual reviews of pipes and not statistics that are posted to a company’s website.
