Default Stock shocks vs progressive 944

Do you guys knownif my 2016 street glide special has the premium HD shocks? Wondering if it would make a big difference to go to progressive 944 shocks that settle at 12". Sorry if this has been asked before, but i didnt know which HD shocks come standard on a 2016 Special

If it has a big **** on the left shock, they are Premium shocks.

The only way to know is to buy a set and make your own decision. Opinions are all over the board.

That said, I am intending to buy a set of 944s based on the experience of a trusted friend. I am not about about trusting the opinions of strangers on the World Wide Web. Although there are a number of strangers on this forum who would agree with this choice. Trying out different components can be very expensive. That's just the nature of the game. There are no linear answers to a subjective opinion.

I just bought Pro Action shocks and all I can say is wow are they great. I looked at the 944 posts and it looks 50/50 if they like them. Search Pro Action --- nothing but good, so I went with them. Only had them since Wednesday put about 200 miles on them-- first day was tuning which they will walk you through. Tuning is just setting springs and slow bleed screw. Took about an hour. Great guys also.

Had 944s on my RK, the 11" ones with standard springs. I adjusted them multiple times but they always were too stiff, especially at speed. I finally put some Pro Actions on and couldn't be happier, the improvement has been massive. I always ride solo, by the way.

I had the 944 heavy duty and went with the Super heavy duty. I found the heavy duty not heavy enough for my application. The shocks perform as advertised. Be sure you order the set for the maximum weight of rider / passenger and any luggage. It makes a big difference in ride quality. I am very happy with these shocks. I also installed a set of mono tubes in the forks. The combination of the two work really well. Good luck with your decision.

I am happy with mine, older application. But still better than the stock air shocks.

theyll be better than stock, but not by much, especially for the money.
For the same price Id look into pro action, JRI, bottom tier ohlins, supershox, etc. Lots of threads here to make you own decision, but I hated my progressives but loving my JRIs
