Default 1982 FXR value

I ran across a 1982 FXR with 16,000 on the clock S&S heads and carb overall good shape. Runs very good and new rubber ride ready! What kind of price range would one consider paying? Thanks in advance!

82 is a shovel FXR, little more rare but not necessarily sought after either. In CA it would be a mid 5-6K type bike if in good shape and fairly stock. In the free world probably anywhere from 3-5K. All depends on whats been done and if its what you want really.

As cheap as you can get it. I probably wouldn’t pay more than a couple grand. Then I’d take the bike completely apart and check all critical areas. Motor mounts, swing arm bearings, triple tree bearings, wheel bearings, etc.

Why does it have S&S heads? Someone turned it into a hot rod OR someone beat the snot out of it and it needed a complete rebuild OR both. Not a fan of that, I would keep my offer low.

If the chassis is in good shape and the motor is a beater and the cost is low, I'd buy it as a builder, including a big S&S,

In most of the world YES....you can bet your last dollar the "16000 on the clock" is not correct...shovel FXR's are not highly sought after...if it is not in excellent shape it would probably be hard to sell

It is an "orphan" bike...people that want a shovel...don't want an FXR...people that want an FXR...don't want a shovel...

Yep. The S&S heads tells me somebody tore into that motor, if they swapped heads its probably got other go fast parts inside. That to me screams hot rod and rode hard.

You said "great condition"..... not beat on.
Bring all those unwanted FXR Shovels in great shape that you guys find for $3K up to the Northeast. I can guarantee you'll make 50-100% on your investment.
