7400 miles. In storage the last 18 years. Only two things missing that I can tell at this time was the battery cover and one handlebar end cap. Oil cooler cover is there and has probably never been installed.

When I graduated high school my first job was pumping gas at a Sunoco station. In the summer, every once in a while two guys would come in early on a Saturday morning for fuel because we were about the only place that had high octane. They had identical Sturgis bikes in black.

We had no HD dealer in town and I had never really seen an HD up close and in person before. They insisted on fueling the bikes themselves so I always checked out their bikes until they were finished. I remember thinking “belt drive rear wheel - that is very cool and high tech”. I had no idea what “twin belt” meant.

That was my first introduction to Harley Davidson motorcycles and I’ve wanted a Sturgis ever since.

Keep it as stock as possible. It will be a rider (limited) so tires, brake hoses, and belts will be modern technology. I can’t tell yet but I think the front tire is original. It’s crispy but it’s been holding air for three days. Fortunately, the previous owner was a tech and drained the tanks before putting it away. If I ever get down to one bike this will be the one.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments! I’ll post pics along the way.
