Question CPAP machines and touring

I have been diagnosed with sleep apnoea, I have been referred to the doctor so I'm not sure what the treatment will be. I have been used to doing long distance touring on my FLHTK to rallies and such - I was wondering if anyone tours while carrying a CPAP machine to various locations? Is it doable? How much room does the machine take if its possible? What are the logistical factors in touring with a CPAP machine?

Is it doable?

I don't believe they're not all that big or complex you can't make room for one

I have been for the last many years.
I do not use the supplied travel bag as it takes up too much room. I pack my machine in my "gym" bag I use for my clothes.
Using a Airsense 11 now and it's a bit smaller than prior CPAPs I've had.
The distilled water is the biggest pain.

Yep fits in my tourpak, AirSense 11 just fine. Like above distilled water is the biggest issue. If I am going to be out 4 days, I fill 2 Sams Club water bottles with distilled water and label them so they do not get used for drinking water. 1 bottle is good for 2 days. If I am out longer, I either take a gallon jug of distilled or buy a gallon and refill the water bottles. Distilled water is not expensive so cost is not a factor.

Purified water works fine. It’s available mostly everywhere.

There are very small machines designed for travel. If you travel a lot I'm sure it would be worth the expense.

i use a BIPAP...same concept, just a little more sophisticated....my prescription is 36/12....sleeping without is not an option

in it's case, it takes up about 20% of my top box. but's its gotta come with me.....ive hauled it around for about 80k miles in the last 4 years

is it doable? hell yeah....does it suck that you have to sacrifice so much of your cargo space to this big ****ing machine....yup

the convergence is coming, my friend....**** is getting smaller and better, and soon we'll have smaller external devices, or permanent implants

it took about a week or so to get used to it, but i purposely stopped using water and the humidifier....got used to it without, and now never ever add water

I've been thinking of going water less although I just bought 12 gallons of distilled.

I identify with your thoughts when I was first prescribed my big cpap. Been touring for years, hotel and camping, with a cpap. ResMed Air Mini is my travel unit. Fits in my hand. I have a battery for when I camp. I can get two nights on a charge. I can plug the battery into the 12v port in the Tour pack to charge it while riding if I'm traveling and camping. If just doing hotels, easy peasy, leave the battery at home. Mine has been all over the country on the bike and the world for business.

I see people in airports carrying their big cpap bags as a carry on, nothing wrong with that, just not how I want to travel. I just throw my tiny cpap in my bag and go.
