Default Are Ultras a future collectable?

With the advent of the wethead, one can only surmise that all near future incarnations of harleys will be migrating towards a liquid cooled variation. With continued demands from the epa for cleaner emissions and the mocos push towards more hp could the demise if the air cooled twin cam be too far away thus making the current production runs on the air cooled bikes one of the last? My bet is that if they release a new 2015 RG, it will only come in a twin cooled configuration. If so, i would say the writing is on the wall.

Yeah, after they depreciate over the next twenty years they can come back up to half the new cost. But maybe the ol lady will buy the argument, honey this bike is gonna be a collectors item, it's an investment.

No modern Harley is a collectable. They are built for one thing; your riding enjoyment.

That sounds like my "safety chrome" argument. "But honey, the bike will be more visible with more chrome and lights, therefore it's safety chrome and a must to have it!

a future collectable...you bet. i would take all of my life savings and by all the ultras you can afford. put them in a humidity and temperature controlled room and let them set for the next 20 years. there sets you retirement funds. you will be living the life of riley with all that money you make from selling the bikes. i will be sticking to my mutual funds/cd's/bonds to take care of me in my golden years. enjoy your retirement. forgive my sarcasm.

I have actually wondered the same. Although the Ultra Classic may never be collectable, it may actually retain more value if all future electraglides become liquid cooled.

Worth as much "extra" as the anniversary models.

They do? Try and sell one or trade it in, you'll find out in a hurry how "collectable" they really are. Same goes for any anniversary model.
