Default How does sissy bar pad remove?

My 09 Heritage softail came with a ugly brown insert on the back side of the passengers sissy bar. How do I remove that and replace it with something else? It sounds like a dumb question but when I remove the two Phillips screws on the back side of the sissy bar it still don't release the pad itself so I can figure out how that ugly brown monster comes off.

HELP....

Scott

Normally there is an additional screw under the logo on the back side of the pad. The logo is held on by double sided tape or glue. Remove the logo and you should see the screw.

The logo on the back of the sissy bar will pry off and has a screw under it, it can be pushed back in when you put the new pad on or even if you don't run a pad.

It's plastic so be careful with it.

When I tried to remove the brown leather piece on mine I destroyed it. The good news was I was changing over the all black one that comes on the newer bikes. I also changed my brown tank panel to black. I hated the brown!!!

62377-11 and 51494-11 are the black part numbers if you are interested in them.

I completed the little project last night and it all went well. The brown is gone......!

I ended up heating the brown pad with the concho attached and peeling it back on the corner away from the sissy bar. It took a little work but it finally came and behold, there was the screw that removed the sissy bar pad.

After the brown thing was off the bike there was some nice shiny chrome! I cleaned it up with some goo-gone to remove the double sided sticky stuff off.

Next was to figure out how to install the new
Chrome Skull Medallion-91718-02

This new chrome piece was also a stick on chrome piece but I was of with that.

The new medallion was recessed so it did NOT interfere with the screw sticking out of sissy bar which holds the pad on the back.

It's done and looks great!

I have a pic on my phone if anyone would like to see it.

Thanks for the starter tips on this forum, it was a big help to me.

Quick Question. My used 2016 Heritage has nothing on the back of the sissy bar, I got the red concho & ordered the leather piece for the back to make it look stock, can you reverse engineer how you got it off so I can figure out how it goes on?
thanks

Thread was from 2014 and he hasn't posted since 2021.... but...

All the medallions I've seen, attach with 3M VHB (very high bond) two-way tape.
