Softail slim bags

Can you show me your softail slim with bags, and tell me what brand they are and give me your learned opinion please?

slim_powers 06-10-2015 06:43 AM

Following this thread with interest; I'm looking into saddlebags and it's overwhelming, not to mention possibilities for issues with all the universal fits that still may not fit.

There has been quite a bit of information on saddlebags in this thread, it will take time to wade through:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...-pics-295.html

The second thread is: What did you do to your softail today, that thread not as helpful for saddlebags.

Here are a couple shots of my bike. I needed a bag large enough to hold my leather jacket when it warms up in So Cal, this bag did not accomplish, but looked cool.

Leatherworks Swing arm bag before I made a under seat pan:

This bike is in the thread linked above. These are Harley bags. Look GREAT from the side... Need lower exhaust pipes on the right side. I would like to see a shot from the rear of this bike:

My bike with the seat pan finished.

Forum members bought both bags, Im looking for something else as well:

Here's an old thread showing bags from Leather Pros, for anyone interested in adding bags without having to relocate signals and license plate...

I like the LP bags too, it appears they're bigger than the Rocker bags.
The Rocker bags do not require signal or plate relocation either. I like
the Rocker bag style better, but they seem a bit hard to find.
Here's a shot from the "other" side.

For my application, I'd like to use just the left side Rocker bag...

no picture but I just have a roll up bag that goes over the sissy bar. Keep rain suite, jacket and chaps in it

Used Harley Leather Throw Over Saddlebags for a while. Had them seamed and held in place with a Timber Wolf Leather Fender Bib. Shelved them when I added the flames.

Sixgunjr 06-11-2015 11:58 AM

My friend bought his wife a black slim. (Short girl) He changed the license plate tue duals pipes, woody's fairing and black HD hard bags. It's the baddest looking slim that looks like a street glide. They ride a lot, 20+ a year and she thinks it's the best cycle she every had. I'm jealous.

We've just bought my wife a Slim & are thinking of doing exactly the same. I'd be curious to see what he did with the rear fender & signal lights - if he changed out the fender I'm wondering what he used? Can you ask him & possibly take a picture or 2 & post back? Thanks!

Sixgunjr 06-12-2015 11:25 AM

I'm sure he used the one through Harley. He also changed the front Fender to the one the on the street glide.
He just retired from the railroad so running into him will be less often.

After looking around and online ordering, I found the HD bag was the one that my iPad would fit in, without forcing it. Not my current bike but it has one just like it.

Any chance of a few more pics - from behind the bike (so we can see what the rear profile looks like) and how they mount?

Which model are they?

E

foilfear66 08-03-2015 03:36 AM

The bags are Leatherpros BLS2000 model, they mount on small studs and when the bags are removed only the small studs show. Best to see Leatherpros website for the mounting details.

I have bags from Harley. Bike was one of their add on bikes when I got it. Overall I like the bags, although only used them a few times. I think they suite the Slims well. Downfall (for some) is having to do the relocate kit. I do think I am going to try and sell them and do a sissy bar and get a bigger bag. I dont use them enough to keep them on all the time, and honestly I like my bike better with out. I am considering buying a swingarm bag though, just for smaller items. Sorry, only have crappy pictures with them on the bike.

Hi Guys,

Yes the luggage rack is from Motherwell.

Here is my slim with some generic throw over bags. I wanted something large and cheap. Yes, I did the plate and signal relocations, but instead of the Harley signal relocation, I used some strut mounted LEDs. They sit between the bags and the fender. In this picture, the bike was ready for a road trip, hence the sissy bar bag. Everything is "quick" detach. I have a road trip bike and bar hopper in one. The windshield, sissy bar, driver back rest and bags all comes off easily and quickly. The bags zipper on and off.

I'm watching this thread with interest - I really want saddlebags for my new Slim.

But I'm kinda picky... I need them large enough to take a 15" Macbook, but they don't need to be that 'wide'

Leather Pros - look nicely made, big too, but I'm not a fan of the 'rigid' boxy look. I kinda want my saddlebags to look 'thinner' from the back of the bike and not so 'square'

I'm looking at the Hanson-Styling ones at the moment.. the Boston ones will fit with no turn-signal relocation:
Hansen Styling Boston bags

I've seen the Vikings... again, boxy like the Leather Pros.

Fox Creek... look ok but a bit 'floppy' and no Slim-specific fittings.

Any other options out there?

Jetfever 08-10-2015 12:57 PM

Speedking Saddlbags?

Did you see this thread?
Spedking bags are only 5 inches wide...

I'm working on Rocker bag installation currently. Just got the support brackets
back from powdercoating... Not sure when I'll get some pictures, but you can
get the idea from whats been posted eariler. In my case, I'm only putting on
one side - the left side. (that ought to look different)

stinkerbill 08-11-2015 07:18 AM

Yeah, I saw the Rocker saddlebags on the blue Slim on the 'Show us your pics' thread, but I think they'll only work with lower-than-stock exhausts on the RHS and I want a pair.

I used some sportster bags on mine. A bit bigger than the strut bags and didn't have to relocate anything.

stinkerbill 08-31-2015 12:55 PM

I just fitted a pair of 'Boston' Buffalo Bags

I opted to make up my own brackets - full details here:

Sorry for the late reply I just saw this thread.
Here's the shot from the back.
As you can see the right bag is molded to go around the exhaust.

I didn't see a link to the Rocker Bags. Looked around the net as well.
Is this a brand, or the name of a certain style bag being manufactured by someone named other than "Rocker"?

stinkerbill 03-07-2016 03:02 PM

Harley branded bags for the 'Rocker C'

So I forgot to update this thread with some pics from before I got the primary
powdercoated black. The bag isn't as low as it would appear in the first pic.

This definitely looks like the best bag system for a slim.

edtekk 03-24-2016 09:53 AM

I have these bags on my slim and I think they're the best bags on the market. No mods and installed in minutes.

stinkerbill 04-13-2016 11:11 AM

I'm in the middle of turning some regular leather 'satchel' briefcases into saddlebags.

I figured that I can get exactly the look of bag I like that way. Here's the ones I've bought...

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...9c659374d5.png

Well, not the exact ones, but almost the same - and only £50 each!

I've had some ali plates cut to size and am having a local upholsterer sew them into the backs of the bags - they I'll mount them with my Easy Brackets

Job done... for a fraction of the price!
