Default Toolbox?

Anyone have one of the swingarm mounted toolboxed like this?

They get in the way at all? tools stay dry? I know I won't be able to bring much in it, but if I need more than I can fit in that, I'll call a tow truck...

I have one and I like it. Holds a decent amount of tools. I bought it at Surdyke and bought a little custom form bag from HD that fits in it. The custom bag is great because you can take it out and get at your tools without all of them falling out all over the place. I've never gotten my tools wet, it seems to keep them dry though it doesn't have a gasket on it.

I kind of liked the tool box. I went with the swingarm bag bec I needed more room for all my crap I have to carry in my pockets. The lock on the box I like.

I put rear passenger floorboards on my slim and the toolbox if I am not mistaken was one item of a few you cant have with passenger boards.

I cant see it getting in your way though. Its tucked in low and you wont even know its there really.

I know the rear passenger boards are there already. damn my heel.

The toolbox fits with passenger footboards, see my picture above.

If you have passenger foot pegs, you have to extend the foot peg with an extension that comes with the toolbox kit.

I'm thinking I might pull the trigger on this, I've got a set of detachable saddle bags for long hauls, so space isn't really a concern for long trips, but around town, it'd be nice to have a small tool set available. It's always good to have them, 'cause then you won't need them.

I have the same one as JoeG on my Springer but my HD tool roll doesn't fit in it so it's empty. It was on the bike when I bought it so it's just for decoration!

Cruz makes a set of tools for the tear drop tool box that's just a fit. I've been using it for for roughly a year. I'm on a dyna so I had to make my own custom bracket. I like having tools on the road cuz you never know what's next.

Surdyke sells for 20% off and usually a free shipping deal. Check Kutter as well.

I have a pair of those on my softail. They do hold plenty of stuff, but water does get inside the ones I have. Could be mine are after market, as Ive seen them on the Drag Specialties site. If water entering is a issue, you could allways get a water proof pouch for inside of it.

I priced the box through Surdyke, and after shipping, I was looking at almost exactly what the dealer was asking for it, if I can get in on it at 20% off though, that would be pretty killer.
