I have money for either way but I dont want to have to keep going to the shop after its all done. I dont race it or anything like that, just a casual rider, barhopper type.
Reminds me of an old Homer Simpson quote, when he was designing a car.

"When I start my car, I want my neighbors to think the world is coming to an end."

Not really TZised Biker.... I don't smell a Troll,,,, I just think he's a younger member who has bigger dreams than maybe his checkbook...

Now I'd say to - SD -.. to buy and install a motor like you talking about would prob cost you $6 - $10K and then you'd prob have to spend a Lot of $$$ every yr to keep it running....

nothing wrong with wanting MORE Power... IE- (Tim the Toolman)....

But being a seasoned rider ( I am prob A lot older than you) I want a motorcycle that Meets my needs while still making me happy.....

Example... my 96''er with just stg1, with Rush muffs, SE/AC, dyno and some simple and easy on the engine - Andrews 26 h cams install has given me enought to Be Happy...

With a 103... I'd think if you do some CAMS that meets your style of riding and do a Street port on you heads that complement your build and STG1 mods.... Well,, I just think you wouldn't believe the Difference VS what you have now and you'd Still have a VERY dependable road bike that you can ride for 100K or more and be happy.

WITHOUT having to spend $6-10 K dollars to get the biggest, baddest HD around only to be Blown away by a 750 Crotch Rocket

At you age (I am guessing, you're under 40) I'll add as you get older,,, you'll learn to just enjoy the ride and not How fast you go by it all...

From an old man who's been there, done that and now knows better...

troll or no troll, i dont know, but i'll just mention my bit..
Taking my engine from a 96" to a 107", i didnt notice any difference in "Volume". Sure the engine sounded different because the cams and whatnot.. but not volume.

When i started getting ran off the road by people who couldn't see/hear me, that's when I wanted "volume". So i ditched my V&H pipes and built my own:
Attachment 622147

4" mostly open pipe with a small restrictor inside. That has volume. That shakes the building where I work, and annoys my neighbors.

I don't know if I really "needed" it, but it's sure nice to have. Sorry for annoying everyone on the sidewalk, but if the people on the freeway wouldn't try to push me in to a guard rail, i wouldn't have done it. Now people roll their windows up. And I'm fine with it.

Also, when im going down the road, i dont really even hear it, which is nice.

Here's an album:

People consider it trolling because it doesn't fall in line with the current Internet trends.

Skip the suggested engine work and just get the RB Racing exhaust. That will give your bike the added volume you are looking for while keeping it reliable at the same time.

If you need more volume than that, then you need to build the motor with cams & matching heads for a 11:1 compression ratio. This will effect reliability in a negative way.
