Default Problems Installing HD King-Size Detachable Windshield #57688-10 on 2016 FLSS

I attempted to install the HD detachable windshield #57688-10 on my 2016 FLSS this weekend but couldn't get it to fit.

The docking point bushings seem too squishy so when I tried to slide the bottom of the windshield onto them they would compress or squish so I could never get it seated correctly. Add to that the bottom of the windshield would bottom out and hit to the top of the headlight. And this specific windshield looks way too tall for this bike. Back to the dealer...........again.

Maybe I should look at a non-HD windshield? Seems HD doesn't make many windshield options for this bike with black braces.

You can probably just make some spacers out of something or use some washers to put behind the bottom to see if that will work.

I picked up a Memphis shades bullet fairing an the trigger lock seems way superior to the spring thing HD uses.

Turns out HD does not make an 18" quick detach windshield with black braces for the 2016 FLSS. The kit I ended up with will fit my bike but I have to buy shorter bolts or cut the ones in the kit. All the bolts are too long and are made for a bike with the fog lamps installed. I spent almost 2 hours at the dealer trying to figure this out. Maybe the bike is to new? Seems odd they wouldn't have multiple height windshields to choose from.

I have that pn windshield on my bike. It is for single headlight without aux lamps

My bolts were not too long that came in the box. I can't see where your bike would differ from mine but I don't know for sure.

Not much help - but just saying. Maybe something got boxed wrong.

The first windshield I ordered was pn 57400110 and the bolts were way too long.

The second windshield I ordered was pn 57688-10 but I couldn't get the windshield to properly dock onto the bushings. Plus the 21" windshield looked ridiculously high.

So now I have a third windshield (don't have pn with me) which is 18" high, with black braces, but the bolts are way too long so I have to cut them down to 1" to fit.

The $tealer wanted to charge me 2 hours of labor at $109/hr to install the windshield. I told them BS, no thanks. You would think after spending almost 20k on a new bike they would give you a break on installing accessories.

Finally got PN 57400111 installed today. It fits but the lower brackets don't properly align with the bottom nylon bushings. I'll add a couple of pics for review. I hope the nylon bushing don't eventually wear out and fall off.

Bad alignment?

Bad alignment?

Nothing a couple of washers under the bottom bushings won't fix.

Would be interested too to see the pictures of it installed. I installed the same one I think but don't have the part number handy but it did fit fine for me.
