Default Black is the new Chrome

Well I told you I was going to do a black ft end. Here’s what I did, I got some 1 and ¾ aluminum pipe and had it cut to the predetermined length. (with my new 5 degree trees it was 7 inches but stock trees are less) I put these tubes on a broom stick and gave them 2 coats primer, 2 coats black and 2 coats of clear. First I took the tank off, then installed the new trees. I put the smaller 39mm gator-boots and here’s the tricky part, I put some weather-stripping inside of the new tube pieces so they would not vibrate or rattle. I put a little oil on the weather-stripping and kind of screwed in the fork tube, worked like a dream. I was a bit upset because the hole in the top tree was not large enough to feed the wire harness through so I had to splice two of the large connectors, but the end result turned out very nice. I should have some stock parts like trees, fender, and more fork tubing if anyone is interested in giving this a shot on their bike. I'll probably put up an ad in the want-ads. I'll post some more pics when she's back together.

Why don't you post the detailed procedure in the DIY sticky?

I still have problems locating topics and I thought sticky's were closed? I'll look into it if there is enough interest. I do have some left-over stuff that I'd let go for the cost of shipping, just let me finish up and do an inventory.
