I was moving my Softail slim s around the yard, thought the kickstand was down and locked, apparently not. Dropped the bike, happens so fast nothing to do to save it. At least it was on grass. It's lying so flat,I can't get any leverage to lift it. Have to wait for a helper. Lesson learned.

It happens. Are you lifting the bike the correct way?

Here's how to do it...

Been there, done that. My ks collapsed forward one evening when on my way to work. Had started bike, got off to put gear on, kickstand went forward past locking tab, bike went down in garage. Turned it off, tried to pick it up, felt a loud pop in back. Crawled outside to where cellphone was.
Waited bent over for 45 minutes for ambulance. ER gave me a shot of Demerol, didn't do any xrays despite me asking. Missed 2 overtime days fromwork. Later xrays showed cracked vertebrae. Still have lower back pain and sciatica from bulging disc at l5s1.
This happened about 10 years ago. Yep, man up and call for help.

Moving mine across a soft yard with a hill on Sunday the back end washed out and it went over real slow and gentle. Laid right on the engine guard. I used the pick up technique and was pretty impressed how well it worked. Everyone's bike falls over at some point. Pick it up and keep on going.

This technique works awesome, even on fully loaded touring bikes,,,, unless the seat is on a downhill side of slope. Been there.

A engine guard was one of the first things I sought to add to my bike. I cant believe Harley doesn't put them on Heritages from the factory. so far ive been very lucky. I almost did in the garage one day . went to sit it down on the stand and it wasn't all the way forward. I hate Harley kickstands. wish they would change them to something that's a little more solid and not so movable. **** happens. at least it was in the grass where you shouldn't have any notable damage like a ruined tank or anything! don't be ashamed. embrace it.

I added BOTH front and rear bars to my Fat Boy.
Besides being giant pieces of chrome...... yeah, you know the other reason.

Yep, engine (crash) bars will save you a lot of grief in the long run. I never leave home without them..
