Question heel guards?

Hey guys, Ok, will start out my very first question. Just bought a 2004 Fatboy and love it..one thing I DON'T like is that the exhaust pipe on the right runs right next to my front footrest, and my shoe rubber is actually starting to melt and leave black spots on my nice chrome.

Anyway, what can I use to keep my heel away from the exhaust pipe? is there someting I can put on either the footrest of pipe to protect both my shoe from melting, and from getting my pipe all crapped up

THanks

I rode a Street Glide and it has floorboards. The whole time, I never knew where my feet were, since I've always had pegs an I know where my feet are. So I can see where anyone would need a guard on the floorboard. I know I would...but then, I take them off and put pegs on it.

I am right there with you. Every bike I've ever owned had foot pegs. It was easy to "feel" where you feet should be. These floor boards on nice, but I just feel like my foot is floating out there, and I don't know quite how to position it yet.

I'd rather have floor boards any day than pegs, you can move your feet around.

there are add on boot guards out there an boards with them built in...I prefer boards for comfort. I had this problem on my 99 fatboy so I removed the chrome heat shield an put a wrap of header wrap around that area where my heel would hit an that kept it from getting hot enough to melt my heel.

I don't know the brand name or the price I paid for my heel guards but they were worth every penny.
Google heel guards and make your selection.

HD makes some good heel guards, though $$$$. Couldn't do without mine though.

i've always been used to peg, but now love my floor boards. my feet were always dancing around on he pegs looking for a good spot. But because i'm used to having my feet out and or hanging off the end of the pegs, i tent to find my feet at the end of the boards. So i never have any trouble with them being next to the pipes. but those look like a good idea
