Default 08 Softail No fuel pump ?

My wife's 08 Softail Not hearing the fuel pump run .Had the bike sit for a few months. Dead battery. Put on trickle charger and battery is good Motor turns over very quick but No start . Checked the fuse and is good. Checked voltage where the fuse plugs into and I get 12 volts for about 3 seconds which I think is correct. Any recommendations what to look at next ? I admit that fuel injection is not one of my strong points ..Thank you for your time ..

Could just be a dead pump? If current to the pump is good I'm not sure what else to check except swap it and see.

I am looking at the fuel system diagnostics in the 06 manual, which may be slightly different in wire colors/numbers.
1. Check fuel pump fuse (you did this)
2. Check for 12v at terminals 1 (+) and 3(-) of fuel pump connector first 2-3 seconds (you did this)
3. Check for bad connections between fuel pump and pump connector
4. With key OFF, check for open pump circuit. Ohmmeter connector (86a) (O/GY wire) and (bk wire). If continuity present, bad connection. If no continuity, check fuel pump.

Sounds like #4 is the next step. 86a is the pump-side of the connector.

It sounds like a bad pump.

Update ... Thank you all for your help and yes it had a dead fuel pump. Was not hard to take out the pump and by the way the filter came out in pieces so that was trashed and could very well of been the issue causing the pump to lock up as the ohms were good but the pump would not run .. Harley does not sell the pump on its own so they wanted $270.00 for the pats, went online and found the exact replacement pump for $69.95.. It pays to shop around .. Thanks ..
