Default 2008 FLSTN: Feels like the bike loses power for a split second

Hey Guys,

I've noticed my 2008 Softail Deluxe while riding, feels like for a split second loses power, then comes right back. I know it happens because it throws my body forward. It's not a feeling like when you pull the clutch in and the bike is still "going". I know it sounds a little weird, but could it be a warning sign of a sensor going out?

TPS - Throttle Position Sensor. (Part # 27659-06 )
I'd start by checking / replacing that. Cheap and easy, might be the problem if there aren't any fault codes.

Check the battery, could just be a simple loose terminal connection

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies:

I forgot how to look for codes, how do I do that?

Engine does not quit, just kind of goes "flat"

Will also check the battery connections

IDK the actual drop on the tach because I dont have any RPM gauge, but its very noticeable to the point where I jerk forward because of the loss momentum. Then after a split second, everything is fine.

OK got that but does the motor quit or sag ?
Is it still running when it does it or not ?
Do you get a backfire sometimes when it kicks back in ?
