Default Hard bags on a 2012 Heritage Classic.

I'm trying to turn my Heritage Classic into somewhat of an ultra look with hard bags and a Batwing any suggestion on the hard bags and what size are the Ultra bags. Will that size fit my classic. Any suggestions I would appreciate it.

I don’t know why anyone would want to convert their Heritage into a bagger.
But since you’re inquiring it probably would be best for you to search “Softail Bagger” to get the most information.

Harley saddle bags 2013 and under will fit with the right mounting brackets.

Here’s my setup—

Unpainted gelcoat gloss black fairing with stereo, amp, 4 speakers, handle bar controls- Reckless Motorcycles- $1250
TCMT vivid black saddle bags- Amazon- $220
Baggertail saddle bag mounts- Cycle Vision $300- eBay knock-offs- $125
Tour Pak- Harley $600
Tour Pak mount- Harley $230
Tour Pak mounting hardware- Harley $50
Tour Pak luggage rack- Harley- ~$150
Touring seat- Harley Signature Series- $550
Thottle lock- Omni Cruise- eBay- $45
Leather lowers- Leather Pros- $550

Total cost of conversion- $3770- $3945
BTW- my conversion evolved over time and I bought a lot of stuff used.
My conversion cost was around $2800 and $1800 of that was just the fairing and lowers.

I did this to my old Fat Boy a few years back. Hard bags are from a Switchback and the fairing is from Memphis Shades.

Thank thank you so much exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for giving me all the information. How is the wind buffeting with the fairing? Do those bags hold as much as Harley-Davidson bags?

No buffering.
As for the bags they are identical to the OEM bags only cheaper.

The OEM bags are probably better made and certainly painted flawlessly, where-as my TCMT bag's paint isn't perfect.
However you get what you pay for, but for the price the TCMT bags work just fine for me.

As for size; they's more storage in them than the Heritage leather ones but I don't think that much more.
The big difference is the hard bags open outward and the entire bag is accessible from the top.

I can put an entire case of beer in the saddlebag while being able to close the lid.
With the leather bags you can still get a case of beer in them but you'll have to take them out of the carton.

Right saddle bag- case of beer and room for some chips.
When traveling I keep a tool roll and two "Joey" chairs in it with room for a jacket if needed.

Left saddle bag-
Saddlemen's storage bag with two sets of rain gear. (shaped for a saddle bag with the Reda gas can)
Reda gas can with 1 gal. of gas.
Antigravities XP-10 micro jump starter/power pack
Antigravites XP-10 air pump.
Jiffy stand soft ground plate.

I am just getting started with mine.

I picked up the Amazon bags and brackets.

If I could have found a set of HD bags locally (used) for a decent price I would have went that way, but after 6 months I went this way.
As for the trunk, I am not going that way (so far) but I would pick one up used vrs buying new.
I am using a rick rack to mount my top bag (for lack of a better term) vs some other type of mounting system.

I do not plan on running mine except while traveling and the rick rack is quick on quick off and lockable.
As for my fairing I bought a used on because I planned on modifying it before I ever mount it.

I removed the radio face that stuck out and am in the process off smoothing the face out.
I will be adding a marine radio/blue tooth unit. They are gauge size (round & light).
I want the fairing to be light weight.
It will also fit tighter than originally designed when I am done.
Once I get all the glass work done I will get it painted.
My plan is to mainly use it on trip, that may change after I get it mounted (I like the bat wings).

A side note, I have done the "bagger thing" had an 01 FHLT & then moved to an 09 Ultra.
I loved both bikes, especially the Ultra on the highway, but it was heavy.
The reason I went to the softail was the weight, the CG is so much higher on them (baggers).
I do allot more local riding than big trips and they just make more since for me.

I put Street Glide Bags on my 15 Heritage with the Bagger tail bracket - worked great - love hard bags.
