When Harley Calls...!!!
"Here I go again!" Out of the blue, the dealership called me and invited me in to test ride some Softails, now I'm wondering;
Is this good news or is it bad?
Does this mean I now qualify for a trade-in or am I putting too much on it?
It's as bad as when I was trying to choose the bike that I have now and the funny thing is, I just posted about not being able too get a Heritage in another thread. (are there HD spies in here?)
Buying my bike last year was my first time financing anything for me so, I'm not sure how this works. I keep telling myself they wouldn't call me in to not sell me anything. What I do know is;
I still owe a bit. New releases come out this month, they've just yanked my chain big time and;
I really want a Heritage.
Then again I want to keep my bike.
I really need to watch another Heritage review.
I feel like a freaking addict.
Anyway, I'll just have to wait until Thursday to find out won't I? Oh the agony.
"Is Thursday here yet?!" I'm already tired of waiting.

eliminate any concern about the Heritage. Considering you financial position, work the best deal you can on an ‘18. If they won’t play, keep your bike. Forget reviews of the Heritage, it’s the perfect bike.
I must admit, I was quietly considering the best deal route. LOL
I can't afford mine, but I was so very impressed by the all new design of the engine and chassis that I decided to accept the sacrifices of being mostly broke for the joy of riding this amazing machine!
No regrets, glad I did.

They can trade negative equity to get you to buy another bike.
They called you for several reasons.
First and foremost, your on a Sportster. Most Sportster owners move up within the first year.
Second, they still have your info fresh and chances are they can make the numbers look right to trade you out.
But be aware, you will pay dearly through high interest and time.
Im sure others will continue here where I’ve left off.

YUP....they still have your number and will pressure you to get in there and UP buy.........not in your best interest right now I would imagine. You'll take a bath on the old one and the new bling will entice you to no end.............been there at auto stores.........

The last two posts are absolutely on point. I will also add, that they are working hard to move as many '18s as they can, before the '19s arrive. Go negotiate hard and if you don't get a good deal, just walk.
The more I'm sitting here thinking of it, I may just shoot for a Street Bob. First it's the most reasonably priced to start with and second, looking at it reminds me of how my 48 which I do love is set up right now with mini-apes.
I would take a reasonable hit just to get an extra gear, a little more power and a few more swigs of gas for the SoCal freeways. In the year in a half I've had my 48, I haven't braved the interstates yet but, ready to give it a shot. I also never rode two-up. That's part of the reason I dig the Heritage. All of my family is in Oklahoma so, imagine the desert rides. But hey! Baby steps right?!

Harley dealers never used to cold call for bike sales. They do now. It means nothing. Just a more aggressive tactic to get you into the shop and run a credit application towards a sale. Doesn’t make them bad, but don’t read anything special into it except maybe they are a little hotter to deal if you’re in the market.
