Default Softail Slim S Twin Cam or Wait for M8?

Hi All,

I ride a 2018 RGS but I am looking at another to add to the stable. I had a EVO softail until a few months ago and I liked it (seller's remorse) so I am looking at the Softail Slim S. I like the lower weight and for lane splitting and solo riding. I think it is perfect for me to ride to work or the store or just because the wife is not riding with me LOL.

I like the fact that the "S" has ABS and cruise. Cruise is not a deal breaker but if I am going newer then I want ABS. So the non ABS is a non-starter for me. The problem is the MoCo has not made a "S" in the last couple years. I am eyeballing a 2017 Slim "S" that is dolled up to my taste. But it is a twinkie and let's face it M8 is the future. And it's already three years old. I was disappointed to see no Softail "S" in 2020.

From what I have read the 110 they crammed into that bike was a CVO option prior to that and I guess it is no slouch. My RGS is a 107 and it is not lacking for power for me, it is a torque monster and plenty quick for my old buttocks.

This is not a "needs to have" but a "wants to have" problem so I can wait for other options. Just as an aside the low rider does not do it for me so that is a non-starter also.

Any thoughts from you Softail Slim owners are appreciated, I just want to bounce this around a little with people that know a lot more than me about this topic. Thanks!

we had a Slim 103, and we LOVED it.

i don't think I would wade into the M8 fray, just too much crap going on.

Twin Cams are for riding. M8's are for worrying.

Bought my Slim S for around town and kept the SG for longer rides. I find myself taking the Slim more than I expected. My around town has gotten to be a lot bigger area. It's just a fun bike to ride.
