Default 2015 Heritage Classic Gas Mileage

Hi,
I have a 2015 Heritage Classic with a V&H FP-3 FuelPak and Screaming Eagle exhaust with a Stage 1 upgrade. Is 35 MPG about right for this model bike?

Im pretty much set up close to that, 15 heritage with V&H FP3 & pipe set up - basically stage 1 - I'm getting around 42 +/- but I also have the tour trunk, reckless batwing, & fork deflectors, so with all that weight & drag I would think 42 is good. 35 seems low. maybe use the auto tune on the FP-3 & see if a different map helps.

I'd say it is within reason but could be better. There are many variables. I average 38-40 mpg and it simply depends on whether I am riding with the wind or against it. I have enriched my AFR to reduce decel popping and that alone will drop my fuel efficiency. Plus, I always ride with the windshield which creates a lot of drag.

Honestly, I really don't care what my fuel economy is. I ride. When I need gas I fill up and continue on my way.

A lot depends on your riding style. My 17 has a SE high flow AC, Cycle Shack slip ons and FP3. It averages 38 MPG combined city/hwy. I’m a fairly aggressive rider and rarely ever use 6th gear. Not long ago I took a day trip with another guy. He was leading and is a very slow rider. We were at or below the speed limit all day. When I gassed up at the end of the ride I checked my mileage and it was 44.8. I’d say 35 is about right if gas it a lot.

I kept track of my mileage yesterday 10-5, because of this thread & thought id see what I was getting - I ran cheap gas 87 & was getting 42 mpg as well decal popping & back firing - went to 93 & got 44 mpg & ran much better, we did a nice run & at 75 mph + & through the mountains down in the Seneca rocks area I didn't think that was too bad. My son in law on the Vstar 1100 was getting up wards 50Mpg. we ride pretty hard & the cross winds yesterday didn't favor us so...… maybe fuel type? Fp3 setting?

As bone doc said - I really don't keep track, I just did yesterday to see? either way - ride & enjoy!

That's what I get on mine. PowerVision with Andrews 57h cams. On long trips (freeway) I get about 45 mpg.

Edit: My mpg hasn't changed since stock.

I am getting about 43 MPG with a similar set-up on a 2016 103.

I have a similar setup and I get between 35-38 in mixed city/open road riding.

Last year while heading to the Black Hills with an intense headwind my Son and I (both Heritage's) got 27mpg on one tank.
This year on the way back from the Black Hills with a good tail wind we got 48mpg on one tank.
Of course each way we were cruising between 80-90mph.

When the Wife and I are on a 2-3 hour back road ride we generally get between 40-45mpg.
I'd say we average around 55mph on those rides.

So in other words; the area you're riding in, the conditions you're riding in and you're speed dictate your mpg.
BTW- my Son's Heritage is 100% stock and we both get the same mpg so IMO all the add-ons I think have little effect on mpg.
