Have an '06 Softail Standard FXST, gonna swap the stock bars for a set of 14in Malo baby apes from Factory 47. Semi-decent working on my other vehicles, still learning the ins and outs of a sled and gonna tackle this swap myself. Finding a lot of info out there on this subject, but each article or video varies based on the model, and so do the technical nuances. I know I have to swap out the clutch cable and brake line for longer options, also an extension kit for the electricals. Not sure if I have to remove the gas tank altogether or just move it back, etc. Anyone got any info or articles on this project on this particular bike?

 

I've got a 010 standard and have similar questions about raising bars into apes/ mini apes. I'm 6'04 and want to raise my bars so they are comfortable (especially for long hauls) without being stupid. Happy to hear what people suggest.
