Default Hogworkz bag kit

I have a set of Softail conversion bags/mounting hardware ordered for a 2002 Fat Boy from Hogworkz. Part # HW167219. HD style hard bags.
I’m thinking I’ll probably have to relocate or replace the current strut mounted rear turn signals. The signals are currently located in the next to last hole in the strut.
Wondering if anyone has installed these and what their solution was. Could I get away with moving the lights to the rearmost hole or will a bag mounted solution be necessary?

I'm not trying to be that bad guy, but if you can return the Hogworkz then so be it, do it. They will not last, while I don't have hard bags on my Heritage, I came very close to pulling the trigger on them, everyone I came across with the Hogz was extremely disappointed and ended up going with CV gear.

All information is good to have. Unfortunately the link shows the hardware as out of stock. Are you saying that Hogworkz hardware is bad, their bags are bad, or both?
I saw the bags on display at J&P in Florida. They didn’t look bad. But none in stock for me. Turned out to be a blessing because I saved about $70 ordering elsewhere.
I’m on vacation so the vendor isn’t shipping my bags until I leave for home. That way the bags don’t get there before I do.

Got home from vacation and decided to start tackling this project. I think the Hogworkz bags are going to work out nicely. Here are a few things that I've run into. Noting major but things that will have to be addressed if anyone decides to use the bags on a bike similar to mine.
I have the strut mounted bullet rear turn signals. Even though they are smaller than the factory turn signals they'll still have to be relocated in order to close the lid on the bags. Harley does make a kit to extend them rearward. I'm not going this route so I can't provide a part number. My solution was to order a combination layback license plate mount with a provision for mounting the turn signals from J&P Cycles. I opted for black but the part also comes in chrome. https://www.jpcycles.com/product/406...relocation-kit
Also, the Hogworkz kit assumes that you are simply replacing HD bags. I am not, these hard bags are a whole new thing for my bike. The instructions state to reuse the grommets in the holes on the backside of the bag, where the fasteners that attach the bags to the bracket go through. So a trip to the dealer was in order to get these.
There are also 2 half round rubber cushions on the very bottom of the bag to prevent the bag from rubbing the bottom rail of the mounting bracket that the bag sits upon. Again, they assume that you will have these parts from your old HD bags. Because I had no previous bags I also had to buy these from the dealer.
So at this point I'm on hold until grommets ordered from the dealer arrive as well as the new license plate/turn signal mount from J&P. But it's going to be doable and a much needed improvement for me.
For what it's worth the guys at the HD dealer told me that these bags are the 2014+ style. So they have the newer style lid latch between the back of the bag and the strut. The bag appears to be well made.

For what it's worth, I did a lot of research before I put hard bags on my Deluxe. I looked at everyone and ultimately ended up going with CycleVisions. I went with them not because of the bags but because of the hardware to mount the bags, it's just the best really.

I wish you the best, but yeah just know that anytime you do stuff like this there may be some modification involved. Let's see some pics of your progress and when it's done man!

The website stated pretty clearly that signal light relocation would be necessary on many models but didn't give specifics. I kinda assumed it would be that way for me so no complaints on that issue.
J&P has shipped the license plate/signal light mount so I'm waiting on that and the grommets from local HD dealer. Hogworkz shipped bolts about 4 inches long, assuming that passenger foot pegs would be reinstalled. But I made my bike a solo rider 5 or 6 years ago so the pegs are gone. I'll grab a couple of 1" bolts that secure the bracket to those particular holes and it'll be fine.
So far these are just minor setbacks and I have nothing to blame Hogworkz for. A few days of waiting for the above mentioned stuff to arrive and I should be on the way to winding this thing up. At least the installation end of it. The bike has color shift paint while the new bags are Vivid Black so I'm going to check in with a local guy I know that has a graphics place to see if he can wrap them with something similar. I've seen a car or two that he's done with color shift material.
As far as a Deluxe is concerned my wife has a 2005. She had it all redone several years ago for an old school look. Went with bubble bags from BB Reproductions. I guess they're out of business now but that doesn't hurt my feelings. Let's just say that the experience with them was less than stellar.

Some photos in case someone is interested in putting these bags on a Softail or more specifially a Fat Boy of this era.
1) Removed strut bolts. Loosened front 2 so that fender would swivel up without removing it.

2) Enlarged top hole and inserted grommet to feed the signal light wires through.

3) Layback license plate bracket/signal light mount from J&P Cycles installed. Note that top hole is now used for wire feed instead of third bolt for license plate frame.

4) Next 3 show bags attached to bike.

Not shown - I was able to reinstall the HD chrome teardrop toolbox ahead of the bag on the left side of the bike.

One other note. The J&P bracket had weld right up to the edge of a hole on one side. Had to grind some away so that the nut with integrated washer that holds the turn signal on would tighten flush to the bracket.

If only Hogworkz had a filler kit for these bags. Not crazy about the exposed brackets.
