Default 2006 (200mm) Softail swingarms

Anybody know if the 2006 (200mm) Softail swingarms are wider than the 2000+ softail swingarms or is all the difference in the pulley, spacers and caliper? A 200mm just won't fit in the 2000+ swingarm unless I go to chain. Don't want to waste money getting a 2006 if it is not any wider. Any help would be helpful.

Thanks!

I did a thorough comparison between a friend's 04 and my 06 over the winter. The only difference is the tab the brake caliper mounts to; otherwise, the swingarms are the same size. But the belt and pulley are narrower on the 06, and the caliper's are different.

There were a few threads on this subject several months ago; it seems to me someone successfully did a 200mm rear tire upgrade using the stock swingarm. But I don't recall who it was.

on 2006 fatboy it has a 150 rear tire. the key part from an 04 to the 06 is the rim itsself it is offset moving it to the side alowing more room for the wider tire. when you look on ebay and it says fatboy rims 00-06 there is a difference in the rear rim. i read a thread on here about it and one in a magazine stating the same thing.
I know there is a thread in the softail section from last winter where a guy put a wide tire kit on his softail. he posted pics of every step he did in his basement. do a search for wide tire kit.

Im in the process of converting my 02 nightrain to a 200mm rear tire. I have new renagade wheel (5.5) metzler 200mm tire 2007 rear pulley and belt, 2007 inner fender struts, 2007 strut covers and a 2007 rear fender. My question is will my 02 swingarm work?? and if not will an 06 softail swingarm be any differant?? Hartland sells a kit for my bike that does not include new swingarm. So im thinking if they can do it with spacers and what not cant i do the same?

I had a 2007 (I think..been a while but first fat boy with a 18x200mm) wheel and swing arm off my friend's 200mm rear tire Fatboy. He had gone to the fancy wheels and chrome swing arm. I got two complete almost new stock wheels and arm for $300. The swingarm was the same width but the axle hole was larger for the 1" axle (may have been the slightly smaller mm one, but close to 1") Mine is the 3/4. The belt and rear pulley was even smaller and narrower then my Deuce with the 160 tire. The problem was I could not get a wider fender unless I went aftermarket. The bags have an inner brace that eats up a lot of space. That 200mm tire was not going under my fender. The Fat boy was 10 1/2" wide. Mine is an inch smaller and those braces eat up another 1/2"
