Hot oil will create what looks like a little faint smoke or vapor in the tank when you pull the plug to check, you might notice as a strong oil smell if close enough. Ain't complicated..

You're not going to get the oil hot enough in a 12 mi ride unless you're stuck in city traffic and can only move 3 ft at a time..
The 5010 is an aggressive cam with quick ramping and you are going to have some valve train noise with that cam nothing serious though that can't be adjusted out with adjustable push rods. The thing is though you got to make sure you have the proper amount of valve spring pressure with the valve on the seat and the valve at full open..
I'm sure you're good to go though, if you didn't get any serious noises from lack of oil pressure or the light didn't come on take it out for a good ride and enjoy it.. It's really hard to see oil circulation especially at idle..

I made sure when building it that the valve spring pressure was right for the cam, and a three way grind, also Manley stainless valves. It has V-thunder adjustable push rods, Jim's wide body tappets, weisco 10.1 to 1 pistons, with compression releases. S&S HI-4N single fire ignition. Thunderheader... It moves pretty good now.
