Default She Made 25 Years

I haven’t been active on the forum for a while for health issues but I’m much better now. My 2000 FLHTC is getting her Historical Plate this week. Thank you to the good people on the forum who helped me with repair advice through the years.

Torn rotator, double carpal surgery and a bunch of diabetic issues but the leathers went on last weekend for a celebration ride to Suffolk County NY. My grandson thinks it’s his!!!

Always good to be back in the saddle, glad you are riding again..!

I hope NY has better rules for historical plates than CA.

I looked into Historical plates in CA for one of my bikes. While it reduces the registration fees, it also limits my use....

Not gonna happen on my bikes... I ride them all too frequently... plan to keep it that way for a few more years...

PS after 25 years NYS allows you to run a year appropriate license plate, go to DMV and look up Vintage Plate. of course historical as well is available but I like to run a plate from the year of the bike. I have a Liberty plate on my 1991 Sporty, have fun.

Interesting. In Ohio it was 32 years old to get the antique plate… here in Florida it’s 30 years. I guess NY is 25?

My Sportster will turn 35 on Monday! Bought brand new from Los Angeles Harley-Davidson back in 1990. I think 35 years classifies it as antique.

In CA you can get a "Historical" Plate @ 25 years... but there are restrictions on use...

Similar in VT….

Antique & Exhibition

Exhibition Vehicles; Year of Manufacture Plates

A motor vehicle that is maintained for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest and which is not used for general daily transportation of passengers or property on any highway. Permitted use shall include:
  1. Use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest; and
  2. Occasional transportation of passengers or property not more than one day per week.
Vermont registration plates issued before 1968 may be displayed on a motor vehicle registered as Exhibition instead of the plate issued if the issued plate is maintained within the vehicle and produced upon request of any enforcement officer.

Antique Vehicles

Exhibition vehicles that are 25 years old or older are eligible for antique plates.

Here in Arizona it's 25 years with no restrictions
The AMCA (Antique Motorcycle Club of America) says it must be 35 years old to qualify.
