Default gas tank removal

Does the gas have to be removed before I remove the quick connect from gas tank?

If your going to actually remove the tank I would take the gas out.
Taking the tank off involves taking off the crossover tube, and messing with that WILL make a mess because there is no check valve in it like the disconnect has.
Besidesa tank full of gasweighs around 40lbs.,and its a lot easierto ding the paint on a heavy tank than a lighter one.
