Thinking on paintingmybike's gas tankbut would not like to do it on the stock one.

My bike is a 2007 Fat boy.
Can I just buy any used softail gas tank ? Or EFi bikes have diferent gas tank than carb ones?

 

on 07 the thingy that measures fuel level mounts separately from fuelpump inside the tank (on the right side). I guess 07 tank would fit earlier bikes, but not vice versa.

 

I just went down this road. I dented my 07 gas tank, with my knee and a deer, anyway, I bought what was advertised as an 06 efi tank off ebay. There is a bracket in the tank just as arvis said. I had to drill out the spot welds to remove the bracket and weld that bracket on the older tank. No big deal but...
