Default Dilemna on 1k service

I just hit 1000 miles this week and I am supposed to go to Bike Week in Myrtle Beach, SC on Thursday. Needless to say I don't really have time before I go to get this done. Will it be okay to bring it in for 1k service with say 400 or 500 extra miles on it? Anything I should worry about?

Keith

I think you will feel better about it if you make the time. Then you wont have it on your mind and can enjoy the rally better. Just my thoughts. Wish I was going.

Personally I'd take the time to get it done keithab...I'm in total agreement with rockerheadsteve!

I don't think you'd have an issue with the MOCO if you have a problem downthe line, but my Fat Boy ran a bunch better after that initial 1,000 mile service.

JMHO

Gook luck...and have a great time at the rally! My group was supposed to head that way but went to the Texas State Rally instead. Still had a blast though!

The fact you are asking this question tells me it will haunt you if you don't get it done.
Truthfully you will be okay for an extra few hundred miles.

It's really just a hi priced oil change! Unless you stand there and they actusally do all the things they say they are going to do. Change the oil and filter youself. HD will honor your warranty just document it with oil and filter receipts.

You'll be lucky if you can get shop time within the next two weeks, most are booked up. Good luck

I had a similiar situation with my Softail at 1k. Was going tobe over by 200-300 and dealer said "no problem". As it was, I wasbarely over. Now, that being said, I wouldn't do it again. Trust issue, ya know. They can say what they want......................

At 5k service, I went in early.

There are 2 HD dealerships there, get it done there while you sleep off the night before.

Buy a Manual, oil , filter and do it yourself. You'll have a couple hundred extra bucks in your pocket for the trip and the piece of mind that the work was actualy done.
