Could you keep your bike up after slicing a deer in two? Very impressive.

 

I have a few jump out in front of me every year...I go to work aboyt 5:00AM and thats when they are the worst and at dusk as well
I am always scanning the fields for them....thats saved my *** a few times
I hate it the most in August when the corn is up...harder to spot them.
I had one jump out in front of me on the way to work today....close enough to have to jam the brakes on but not as close as you...did wake me up tho

Deer alerts do not work. Where I live, we have grizzly bears, black bears, cougars, but oddly enough, deer kill more people each year than all of those other animals combined.

 

Deer whistles are a joke.....they do not work......I found out tyhe best thing to do with the deer is&nbsp\\; SHOOT EM&nbsp\\; and put em in the freezer.........

I was returning to LA from Sturgis in 2002. About 11AM, in a light drizzle, I was on a two lane road in south central Wyoming, doing about 60 mph. Out of nowhere, there was a deer on the road about 20 yards ahead of me. There was a pickup coming in the opposite lane and a drop off to my right - nowhere to go - I started breaking, but because the road was wet I knew I wasn't going to be able to stop in time, decided to hold the bars straight and brace for the impact. Just as I got to it, it started to jump, and I caught it in mid air. I had a sport windshield on my 88 FXSTC - it bent way back but didn't break. The deer bounced off it and hit the ground dead, I kept the bike&nbsp\\;straight and stayed up. It broke the right turn signal mount, but that was the extent of the damage. I still keep the tool bag that was mounted in the front bars because it has deer fur in the velcro!

That was my first trip with a windshield - I bought it just for the trip to Sturgis. Never liked windshields, but I sure appreciated one that day.

Just lucky, I guess, cause you just never know.
