so school me up. always want to learn. i've heard 'stem bearing' but don't know. my area of expertise is in other matters. are you a mechanic in one of those too cool for school shops?

That would have been a reasonable point of reference for the steering head bearing. [8D]

I have the same issue/concern..every one says its normal..even though looks nasty.

Last time I checked you packed the bearing with grease, not the cavity the bearing is in.

If you put too much grease on some bearings the excess will leak out.&nbsp\\; The same thing happens with the sheave bearings on Robinson helicopters.

That makes sense. But why then did they put a grease fitting on the neck?

if you pack it on a service, you'll get&nbsp\\;a little excess drip out on hot days. not to worry.

i was just looking in my service manual and it says to lube the zerk fitting until grease comes out both the top and the bottom of the steering tube. mine is leaking all over the place. only 240 miles on it. i also have developed a noticeable clunk[:@]
