Question NADA on a Softail Standard

Looking at a Softail Standard at a non-Harley dealership (their speciality is trykes and custom builds). Beautiful black bike with 1100 miles, somewhat chromed, python pipes, forward controls, FI, etc. NADA is $12,600, dealer asking $13,000. Should I ask below NADA and walk away if they do not agreee or settle for the NADA if they will give it to me?Really like the bike but in this economy I am thinking they should take less??

He more than likely only gave about 10 to 11k for the bike. Give him a low offer, you can always go up a little. I'd offer him $11,600.00. See what he says!!

It's like a used car. That's the asking price and they expect you to offer less and negotiate a final price.

I'd offer 10K and nothing more.
Show the guy your check book and be prepared to buy. The way to get a low ball price to work is to have cash in hand.
If he want's 13K, you might as well spend a few hundred more and buy a brand spanking new 2009.

Paying no higher than $11,100 for the bike is more than fair.

Unhappy NADA on Softail Standard

Thanks for the feedback guys. The only thing swaying me toward paying a little more is the very low mileage, Python pipes and stage I already installed, very nice seat and sissy bar and chromed out somewhat. I have a feeling he will not come down much below NADA ($12,600)though.

Thanks again,

I paid 11500.00 for my 03 Standard at a Harley Dealer. It had 4900 miles. They had done the 5000 mile service and put brand new tires on it front and rear. It has Python staggard pipes, Ness forward control extenders, fat drag bars with braided cables running on the inside. Bike looked showroom. I would offer 10500 or so.

If its a bike you realy want pay what you think is fair. I would offer him a $10,500 and go from there. You never know you may get a good deal. it can't hurt to try.
