Default Question about cutting baffles in half?

Ok love my pipes but think i might be loosing some power from not having the baffles in. But i can not stand the sound with baffles in either. So thought maybe if i cut them in half it would be alittle louder...? dumb idea or what.

Default Drill press is the answer

If you pulled the baffles completely out, you probably don't have enough back pressure to make it run properly.

I pulled the baffles out of Screamin Eagle pipes, threw away the fiberglass and screen wire, and then doubled the amout of holes in the baffles. I did not touch the center deflector in the baffle--it is still just like factory.

All this work allowed the 96B motor to breather better. The bike actually runs better now and has less vibration. It has a nice sound also.

Default Modified baffle

As long as you cut the baffle after the deflector, it should have some back pressure and should run okay. If you cut it in front of the deflector and try to bend some piece of metal into the exhaust flow to create backpressure, who knows what you will get.

Trouble with cutting it is--once its cut its too late to back out unless you have a welder.

Good luck, hope it works for you.
