Only that two or three inch surface where the brake pad actually contacts the rotor. The rest of the rotor will still stay shiney and in my humble opinion still looks better than the dull stock rotors....
gotcha. i got chromed rotors going on my bike,
anyone got a web site were i can pick up some lyndalls for my rocker?
I polished my own using a vibrator type sander. Started with 300 grit and moved up a 100 after a minute and a half of polishing. By the time you get to 1200 to 1500 the rotor will start to shine. At 2000 grit it'll look like chrome. Doing both sides of a rotor takes about 45 minutes out of your life not including the beer breaks.
BS. The front brake won't lock. I use the front more than the back.
I agree its really hard to do on clean dry pavement, but its not impossible with all the crap that drips off cars and trucks.
On the other hand its rediculously easy to do on ice (how I crashed an old Honda) or wet tar patches/strips (almost crashed my Custom) used to fill cracks in asphault.
