Default Got her home and...

...tail light doesn't work!

I picked up my '09 cross bones and rode home from the dealer. When I pulled in my driveway a car pulls up to the end of it and I thought, "sweet, first complement and I've only got 10 miles on it!" Nope, he says, "Just wanted to tell you your tail lights out!" I didn't believe him and just said, "k, thanks." So I went up to the bike, turned the ignition on, sure enough...IT'S OUT!

So, the brake light works but the tail light doesn't. Is this an easy possible fix (i.e. bulb) or something more probably?

Thanks,
-Barry-

Is the brake light and tail light two separate bulbs?

Most likely a bulb, but if its not at least its a warranty deal.

Its probably just the bulb, but I would take it back anyway and make them check it out and replace it if it does need one.
After all you just signed for a nearly $20,000 bike. The least they could do is put a $.50 bulb that works in it for you.

too bad you missed this during the "walk-around" before you took delivery of the bike. anywho, you just got yourself a reason to go for a ride again...back to the dealer to get it fixed.

Looking at the bulb through the lens it appears that both filaments are intact. When I tried to pull the lens off it seems the bulb is in a sealed compartment. Anyone know how to get that apart? Do I just pull it apart?

Don't mess around with it, take it back and make them fix it.
But watch how they take it apart so you'll know how next time you need to do anything back there.

PS pick up a service manual while your there, and a parts manual if you can afford both. Maybe they will cut a deal for you because they screwed up letting a bike leave the dealer without a working tailight.
