Default Pirelli or Avon?

Getting ready to replace my rear tire and I want to stay with the stock size(200/55/17). Has anyone tried the Pirelli Night Dragon or Avon Cobra? I just want to try something different than the Dunlop that came it. Don't have anything against Dunlop, just want to try something else.

I have been running the small 150MM Avon on my trail for a while. That sumbuck wore out faster than fvck.

I now have a ME880 in the 160/60 size. It feels good. Real good. I think Metz makes the 200/55 as well. They are a solid tire with good stiff sidewall....We need stiff sidewall on these sloptails.

+1. I've got a Metzeler me880 on the front and it is noticeably better than the Dunlop it replaced. I just ordered a matching ME880 for the rear in 200/50/17. I don't think they make a 200/55/17. Some others on here say the slightly shorter profile of the 50 will gear me down just a little - should be perfect; I'll get off the line a little faster and get to 6th sooner.

Thumbs up

SNOWMASS, yep I went to an 200/50/17 and it does change the gearing just enough to make 4th and 5th easier around 50 to 55 and 6th is much more useable now. Much more responsive.

Thanks for the input guys, but I'm really wanting feedback on these two specific tires. I'm sure the Metz is a good tire, but I want to stay with the 200/55/17 size. I like the gearing like it is. It's perfect for cruising 75 to 85 on the highway. If I'm going slower and need to downshift to speed up quickly thats ok with me.
