Default HD mirrors with built-in LED turnsignal question

Has anybody had occasion to disassemble these? Do the LED modules come out from the front or does the mirror glass need to be removed to access the rear?

I bought a set but they are not as bright as I thought they would be (especially considering the amount of LEDs) and am considering converting them to some brighter ones. I would prefer to not destroy one in the process of learning how they come apart if it can be avoided.

Good thing you have the denim black paint job out there in 29. I was stationed there for 6 long years....good luck with the LEDs. I was going that route but decided not to.

I got the black ones with smoked lenses from HD. I would have preferred that they came as a flat glass mirror but I think I can simply get some glass cut to change that sometime down the road. As I already mentioned I don't think the HD LEDs are as bright as they should have been. HD appears to still be using old school LEDs instead of the much brighter ones that are available now.
