Doug - I realize I have been a large contributor to this thread, however my previous posts were all in response to the title of the thread. A logical discussion about where to park, and how to park, not tryin to rag on other guys.

WOW

I figured I would get 5 responses to this thread. One would say park in the parking lot, one would say park next to the entrance and the other three calling me a troll. Little did I know people were so pationate about parking (or not parking as some had said).

Great responses.

Passionate????

Things don't usually get pationate until some azzwhipes call you "inconsiderate", or "poser" simply for having a different outlook than theirs.
That would make any man passionate considering we have some pride to maintain.

How the hell did I miss the fuel cap thread?

I usually park it a few spots out from the last car in the line... not way out in the middle of no where but still is visible.

Man, I've learned so much from this thread so far... don't say a word about where someone parks their bike unless you have the "ba**s" to tell them to move it...and a stock $17,000 Harley is not even worth washing! THANKS!

Steve

Default I park in a spot

I always park in a regular spot in the lot. I will try to get away from the "crowd" of cars, but close enough that it's visible (by me) without too much trouble. I also try to park it such that a car coming into the lot sees it sitting there and therefore doesn't think it's a empty spot until it's too late. In other words, I'll park it on an angle and not too far back into the parking spot. So far (knock on wood), no issues for me.

I am never there long. Not like I am grocery shopping with only 2 saddlebags.
Not like the fools that go to the movies. No windows to watch your bike, two hour safety-zone for the thieves..

A bike is for riding (or sitting in front of a tavern).
A bike is not for shopping and movie-going. A quick errand to the hardware store is one thing, but to wander around the store all day with the sunshine out? C'mon man. Let's get real.
.
I ride my bike everywhere. Took my son to the movies on it last weekend in fact. I ride to work every day except when pouring...just a sprinkle I ride. Brought my kid home from a sleepover with his guitar...

So I agree...A bike is for riding...If the thieves want it...they WILL get it. You'll only deter the sillly wannabe thieves. That is why I have good insurance. Real as it gets.
