Default Softail Custom or Dyna Wide Glide?

Looking to trade in my sporty 1200 for either a wide glide or a softail custom. I love the forward controls and the 'chopper' look of both bikes. Can you tell me what differences/advantages/disadvantages of each bike?

I know that both bikes are great, I just need some advice on comparing them from someone who has ridden both...

Thanks!

I have ridden both and personally think the Softail is the way to go. Check with youre local dealer and see if he will letyou test ride them both so you can see for youreself.

I've always heard that a Dyna outhandles a Softail, but the Softy gives you a better ride.

I have ridden both, but the Wide Glide was an 87, and my Softail is a 99. I like the Softy way better, in both looks, and the way it rides. I am also partial to solid mounted engines. I like the whole bike to shake rather than just the engine.

IMHO, the softail is not a way better bike. Nor is the wide glide way better. I could be perfectly happy with either bike.

The Dynas have the rubber mounted engines and vibrate more at idle but smooths out at speed. The Softails have the counterbalanced engine that does not vibrate much but some have reported that there is a slight buzziness at highway speeds.

Since you say you like the looks of both bikes, the only thing left to do is to test ride them to see which one feels/rides better for you.

Good luck.

i was lookin at tradin in my 06 nitetrain for a new 2010 wideglide. Then i thought about the cost of a new bike versus what i already own and kept my nitetrain.

Ive never ridden a wideglide but was told it was similar to my roadking. It all depends on how many mods you wanna make and what type of riding you are goin to do.
As someone said the best way for YOU to decide is get out there and test ride them both.

I like both, but my personal preference would be a Softail.
