I had a very similar situation on my bones. I wasn't anticipating my new bars being such a difference till i got them! I guess i gotta go back to math class , LOL!!! Anyway i went with black chromite cables from magnum shielding. I was contemplating ditching the idle cable as well then thought better of it. Like stated in a prior post, its not worth the risk! If nothing else magnum shielding has really good directions on how to measure for new cables.
Good luck brother!
+1 on magnum in the black ....(wut else is ther)........i went with the swivel brake line and it kicks ****............i did throttle, idle, clutch, and brake all from magnum and ther better then oem by far
ok. I have my cables coming. should be here tomorrow. I have been cutting and extending my wires that I ran internally. I cut (staggered) and spliced in about 3 inches. Soldered with heat shrink in 2 spots per wire. Its going well so far. BUT before I started this, I gave a small 3 inch piece of wire with pin terminal to my friend who works at a shop and asked him to try and get some that were the same. He came back with some terminals, thought I could just cut the wires in one place instead of 2 and pop these terminals on the ends. Well, the terminals he brought me dont work, and he lost the 3 inch piece that I gave him with my original terminal on it. So now, I have all of my wires being extended, but am going to come up one short on the terminals. I called my local dealer and he said he was out !?? should a dealer run out of something they should use so much of?? anyways, he said he has some on order and they may be in this week. Is there anything special about these? Can I get these anywhere else?? Any help is much appreciated.
BTW, I got the Magnum black braided cables, cant wait!!
I dont need the extension kit. Im already half way through soldering. I just need one pin terminal. Dont know whether or not to be pissed about my buddy losing it, he was trying to help. ehhh, *#$%&N set backs. . . .
Update! Called my local dealer again. talked to service, figured someone had to have a couple of these laying around right? NOPE, "call back to parts and have him order some" she says. Called the other dealer, further away, talked to service. He went and talked to parts. "we need to know exactly what switch its coming from, theres a lot of different terminals for different switches" !!!!!! ALL OF THE TERMINAL PINS ARE THE SAME !!!! I told them EXACTLY what harness they are going to, exactly where it is located, and exactly what model / year bike I have. These m*&%erf*&$*ers couldnt pour **** out of a boot with directions on the heal. Im officially pissed off and cant do **** about it unless I leave work and lose hours to drive 45 minutes over to them to grab them by the collar and shove my bars in their face. what the hell guys????
i have an xtra 1 laying around..........just the pin and some wire attached to it right??..............i can mail it today,...dont know how long it would take to get there but its all i can do to help.........
