160 on a FXST? Wheel is now centered, well kinda...
My '05 FXST project is due for some new skins. Currently, it sports a 150/80-16 rear tire. Originally, this bike was cursed with a rather large left side offest in the rear. With the help of a new left side spacer and a bit of mill time, I have the wheel centered with only a .0625 left side bias.
QUESTIONS:
1) With the rear wheel now centered, will I be able to run a 160 out back?
2) How much difference in overall width is there between my 150 (6.145") and say either the Metz 160 or Avon 160?
3) Pics of 160's installed on a similar bike would be VERY much welcomed!!

Avon 160 = 6.625"___almost a 170 dim.
Avon fits on my 02 fatboy, but clearance is 0.25 each side, so removing tire on a change means you don't get to push it to one side much. So if you have every done it by yourself you know how hard it is to remove the brake caliper!

I have the Dunlop 150 (it is almost as wide as the Mitz 160), and got it because of the white walls, my next tire will be the 140, I am so glad the wide-rear tire fad is gone.
Thanks to CrimeScene, Shade Tree, RSD and the rest of the cool new generation of bobber/retro inspired bikes, the skinny rear is now sexy again and I can't be more glad, I always thought the older Softails just looked more in proportion compared to the 200 rear ones.

i think up to 200 looks cool, not to keen on much wider then that except on v rod,i just finished installing a 180 on my deuce, used a 18x5.5 wheel,i think the problem with the fxst is the rear fender width,it can be done however,it will take up to a 4.5 wide rim which is standard on a deuce,i have seen some softails with these rims which will take a 170,or a se 180 dunlop
